Interlibrary Loan

The staff of Louisville Public Library will attempt to borrow materials from other libraries for patron use.

Interlibrary loan of materials may be accomplished in the following ways:

  1. The library is a member of a consortium called SLIC whose members share in a computer system. Member libraries have agreed to lend their materials to all registered borrowers of all member libraries. Patrons can request these materials using the Public Access Terminals, the the online catalog, or by requesting assistance. The library shares a delivery system serving SLIC and other libraries around the state of Ohio. There is no charge for this service. All Louisville Public Library borrowing rules apply to loans of ILL materials. The library reserves the right to exempt materials from interlibrary loan at the discretion of the Director.
  2. Interlibrary loans can be arranged for the following materials.
    • Books not available from SLIC libraries.
    • Magazine and journal articles
    • Audiovisual materials not available from SLIC libraries.
  3. Louisville Library charges and rules are as follows:
    • No fees for materials borrowed from Ohio libraries.
    • Postage one way for materials outside Ohio. Charges for photocopies and faxes will be paid by the patron is assessed by the lending library. All Louisville Library borrowing rules apply.
    • Genealogy requests - a copy of one record will be $2.00 plus $1.00 additional for each record requested at the same time.
