Michael Snyder Hired as New Library Director

January 1, 2006 will mark the beginning of a new era for Louisville Public Library when Mike Snyder takes over as Director. A librarian for 32 years, Mike looks forward to stepping into the position with a smile and a clipboard full of new ideas.

Michael Snyder "I think the library should be the best stop of the day," says Mike, who knows that residents of Louisville are busy, stressed and looking for a place to learn and relax. This statement, and his commitment to public service, were instrumental in helping the Board of Trustees make its decision to offer him the position as Library Director. He will replace Betsy Ketchum who retired in September after 17 years of service to Louisville Public Library. Assistant Director Barbara Digianantonio will continue to serve as Interim Director until January.

Mike Snyder has worked in public libraries in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Mansfield, Ohio. His most recent position was as Executive Director of the Cleveland Area Metropolitan Library System (CAMLS) where he worked closely with librarians in 62 multi-type libraries. He and his wife Ellen Marie, also a librarian, look forward to becoming a part of the Louisville community and enjoying the pleasures of smalltown living.
