Food for Fines, benefiting Louisville Community Cupboard

page top blue line

Louisville Community CupboardWe're celebrating our new role as a dropoff site for Louisville Community Cupboard by offering our community the chance to pay Library fines with nonperishable food donations.

Bring nonperishable food items to the Library March 13-24, and we'll forgive fines on your Library account! This only applies to late fees, not replacement fees for items that were never returned.  However, do bring in those late items--even very late items--and make a donation to Louisville Community Cupboard to avoid late fines.

Louisville Community Cupboard accepts all kinds of nonperishable food items, though they particularly appreciate March's target item Spaghettios, as well as these items:

  • canned beans
  • dry beans
  • peanut butter, and other nut butters
  • rolled oatsMonthly suggested donations for Louisville Community Cupboard
  • canned fruit in juice, not light or heavy syrup
  • canned vegetables, low- or no-sodium
  • low-sodium soups
  • canned tuna in water
  • canned chicken
  • brown rice
  • quinoa
  • nuts, unsalted
  • seeds, unsalted
  • shelf-stable milk and milk substitutes
  • whole grain pasta
  • low-sodium pasta sauce
  • popcorn kernel (not microwave popcorn)
  • canned stews
